Benzoyl peroxide is a strong oxidiser and degrades tretinoin and retinol when the two are mixed in the same layer, reducing the retinoid's activity. Some modern products use microencapsulation specifically to keep them apart, so this depends on the delivery system — but in a simple formulation, expect reduced retinoid effect.
